Jacqueline Laurita Famous "Real Housewives of New Jersey" Alum was kind enough to promote my book

I spoke to my friend Clara who is a single Mom of two boys that lives in Chicago, and she has written a book to help her community and other parents and caregivers of children diagnosed on the spectrum.  I hope you will support her journey and learn some helpful tools by getting her book. “ I think My Child has Autism, What do I do now?” It’s availible now in Amazon Books! Home Warranty Services like Choice Home Warranty Are Designed to take your money without providing the service!

HOME WARRANTY!! BUYER BEWARE!! If you have a Home Warranty Service and your Range/Stove starts to malfunction, make sure it is immaculately clean before the technician arrives! I filed a claim because my control pad was mal-functioning and was promptly given a date for the tech to come out, he accepted the $60 fee and proceeded to tell me that it appeared to him the miniscule amount of grease residue was probably the reason for the mal-function. The technicians appearance should have forwarned me as to his intentions. When he arrived I found it quite odd that his tool bag was the size of a gift you get when you subscribe to AAA or buy at the dollar store, warning bells should have IMMEDIATELY gone of!  I have owned homes and properties, I have seen every manner of technician, and rarely do they show up with a tool box smaller than my purse!! Within 5 minutes he made the comment about the grease and then sent his findings to the company. Needless to say I quickly got an em...
My son is 11! My son that just happens to have autism is now 11 years old, he now has an opinion about what he wears, all the way down to his socks. Gone are the days when I just dressed him, he cares and let's me know it. Each year as he gets older comes with a new set of challenges, teaching him patience and helping him understand when he wants something , unfortunately mommie can't just make it magically appear! Mommie has to get up, get dressed and drive to get said item, and lets hope and prey the stores are still open when he wants this coveted item, So far it hasn't been too bad, a video game here, the ingredients to make crescent roll dogs,  the gummie vitamins were the hardest as we had a last minute snow storm and I had a respiratory infection, but he wouldn't let me rest until he knew I was going to get them. I try to do like the programs say, take it one day at a time, I try not to think ahead of puberty, and girl crushes, or when he starts ...

Autism Growth and Change 2018 has been a year of twists and turns.

I realized I hadn't written in quite awhile. My sister passed away and I tried to envision my life without her voice, guidance, smile, love, support, and strength.  When I thought the pain was more than I could bear, Not quite a week later the father of my children, love, friend,soul-mate,protector, and defender passed away as well. I am still reeling from the loss, so much so that there are days when all I can do is moan or cry to release some of the anguish I feel now that I no longer have a partner in crime, a ride or die.  Some days it seems like a dream from which I will awaken, and others it feels as though i'm in an alternate universe like in a sci-fi movie. I wonder where he is and what he's doing, if he's missing us as much as we're missing him. If he has regrets, and wishes he could have a chance to do things differently.    It's almost Christmas and I'm trying to feel the happiness of the season.  I'm in a new home, the kids are in a new ...

Who I am was greatly Influenced by my sister Evelyn Robinson-Tarr and i will miss her smile and spirit most of all.

Image
Growing up on Carpenter my sister Evelyn like so many other older siblings helped raise me. My mother was a teen when she had Evelyn and all of us that followed her were taught, guided and nurtured by my beautiful Big Sister. I had a doll when I was little that looked just like her and I thought it was the most beautiful doll I ever had. My sister personified grace, class, an enduring and strong spirit and a Angel in our midst. She encouraged me to sing, dance, play tennis, a nd any endeavor i pursued she supported me in my efforts. She did so with unwavering strength, a beautiful smile, and infectious laugh and a bottomless empty pocket. She like my mother made me forever rich in love and support. She helped me be a strong independent woman. I am so glad I was able to call her my sister friend.. I remember her working as a teacher, and at American Draperies on 63rd & Halsted street where she was the top seller, i learned my sales skills from her. She drove me all to\ver the city...

Today is My Birthday!! Happy Birthday to Me! Wouldn't Trade Nothing for my Autism Journey!

Praise the Lord I's here!! Happy Birthday to me! WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO ME? When I was growing up on Carpenter we would walk the neighborhood and I would wish I could see into the future what my life would be like someday, when I had a car, job possibly a family. I must say it has been infinitely different than I could've EVER imagined! For along time I lived a solitary life, I traveled, and partied. Enjoyed the best things life had tooter and spared no expense todo so. Then life happened and I chose to stop working full time care for my Mommie while she battled cancer with treatments 5 days a week, wouldn't trade nothing for the journey... I had given up on having children and then at the age of 39 I was blessed with one son and at 41 and 3mos along when Ifound out!! I was blessed with another. Eventually after noticing his failure to reach milestones, I had him evaluated at 1yrs old and my youngest was diagnosed with Autism. wouldn't t...

Mrs.Smith a Matriarch of my neighborhood where I grew up has passed away..

I t's early and I've been up since I heard Mrs. Smith went to Glory.. For me each time someone that touched my life in a profound way passes away it is a moment of reflection for me. I reflect on how I knew them and I play over in my mind the moments in my memory that our paths crossed. What influences they may have had on me, and then I pray they did and said all they wanted to do while they were here. The other day when the party for Mrs. Payne was held and Mrs. Hill was there, I wished I had known I would have very much liked to attend. I don't go many places that aren't child related, and while I have visited Mrs. Hill and her family in the past on an impulse, you don't want to disturb people just out of the blue. So when there was a party and they were gracious enough to leave the comfort of their homes to attend, I would've moved hell and high water to be there to honor those great ladies as they deserve, where I would not care much if it were just an...

What to do when your Autistic Child has a meltdown.

" WHAT DO I DO TO HELP MY CHILD DURING HIS/HER MELTDOWN?" As a parent to a child with autism, you’re probably no stranger to meltdowns. During a sensory meltdown, children with special needs have very little control over their behavior. They may scream, break things, attack others and even try to hurt themselves. While it’s painful to see your child lose control for seemingly no reason, meltdowns help you understand when your little one is experiencing sensory overwhelm. As a parent, it’s essential that you learn to recognize the signs of a meltdown so you can keep your child safe, and help them regain control and composure. Perhaps what’s most terrifying about a sensory meltdown is the extent to which a child loses control. During a meltdown, a person with autism is completely unaware of their actions and what’s happening around them. Their behavior is an involuntary, knee-jerk response to sensory overwhelm. It’s almost as if they’ve had a complete break with real...

Tomorrow is Mother's Day... I miss my Mommie!

Tomorrow is Mother's Day and as I scroll through the many beautiful photos of people and their mommies I wonder.   I wonder do they realize how blessed they are to be able to talk to, hold, hug, laugh with, kiss tenderly on her soft cheek, gaze into her wise eyes, feel like a kid no matter how old they are. Are they not treasuring every moment, even the ones when they try your patience like a child. My mom would ask me to come take her on an errand , and then have 5 other stops she didn't tell me about. What I wouldn't do to schlep here around once more. I miss her making my favorite dinner for my Birthday, and giving me an Easter basket every year.  I understand so much now that I'm a mother myself, and although I gave her everything I could I wish I could've given more. She made it look so effortless, and I loved the nights we stayed up all night watching movies and eating leftovers, just us two, and I now realize she was probably up because she was up wo...

Relocating to NOLA or Bust!! I would"nt trade nothing for the journey!

Good Morning , Growing up on 67th & Carpenter I had many role models and learned the value in each persons role and to respect their endeavors at excellence. I watched some mothers stay at home and care for the house and raise the children while the father went to work,Mrs. Hill buying all that food and milk at Hillmans Grocery Store on 63rd. Mrs. Veal taking care of her home, Mrs. Keenon going to work, Mrs.Payne and Mrs.Wilks, and Mrs. Lingo sending their kids out with ful l bellies and ready for school. Mrs. Myers,Mrs. Marshall, Mrs.Scott. Mrs. Jett, Daisy, Mrs. Lester being single Moms working hard to feed and raise their families, some were widows some left men to raise their children alone becaiuse that was best for them and I respect that much more now that I know how truly hard that is. Especially the moms with 5 or more kids I pray for strength and patience daily with 2 kids I don't know how the heck they did it with more! Cooking delicious and nutritious me...

AMC "Mad Men" Finale! Absolutely the best Finale I've ever seen!!

Remember May 18, 2015....... Mad Men has left the Building.. Remember the day that one of the best written, acted, costumed, and staged shows in history came to a fabulously and totally satisfying end!! I sat at the edge of the couch cushion and watched every moment with bated breath. I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed EVERY moment!  Peggy Olson First I loved Madmen because I could tune in and look into Don Drapers sexy and conflicted eyes. Then I stayed to watch the ever evolving characters come to life.  Peggy came out of her shell and at the encouragement and tutelage of Don, as well as being snatched from the abyss of madness, became the formidable copywriter she was destined to be. It was a pleasant surprise that peggy should realize she loved her writing partner in crime Stan Rizzo, and they should fall into each others arms with loves first kiss, fulfilled the little princess trapped in her tower in me.  Roger Sterling Roger never failed to bri...

Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion Part 1.. Oh The Thirst and Shade is Real NeNe!

~ Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion Part 1 ~ "The thirst is Real" The quote from Nene about Claudia was on point as her actions the entire season, and during the reunion taping made quite evident. The ladies were exquisitely dressed  but Claudia behaved with as much class as a $2 dollar Hoe. The numerous snarky remarks, and immature "bullshit" sneeze that Claudia so tackily displayed should truly make her feel ashamed of herself cause I'm damn sure her Mother  most definitely isn't answering her phone, and avoiding stares in the grocery store. "Its all fun till the Rabbit get's the gun" I swear in an effort to be relevant Kenya and Cynthia spew malicious rumors so self assuredly, you'd swear they were a fly on the wall, or have some irrefutable proof. In my Brandy voice " Shut the Fuck Up" Cynthia didn't feel her repeating speculative remarks regarding Phaedra's marriage were injurious to her reputa...

The Complacent cop Clarence Habersham that did nothing while Walter Scott was murdered in cold blood.

http://www.mimesiswebtv.com/uncategorized/the-clarence-habersham-problem/ They say that for evil to win all good men have to do is nothing. This is so true and now that we have beat the subject to death of people being shot and beaten to death by police. Now let;s call to task their enablers. I'm not just talking about the partners that are bound by some crazy code of silence, which somehow greatly resembles the "do not snitch code by criminals". Captains and Sergeants , and commissioners that turn a blind eye and fail to hold these people accountable for their actions. Until there is a fully comprehensive overhaul for the way the wheel functions, the broken spokes mean nothing if the rest of the wheel is eroded from within.  I guess now we have to figure out where do we go from here, and how do we change the system and the way we react or not for that matter.IJS.

Police Officer Murder of Walter Scott in South Carolina a Tragedy and I pray this Nation heals from this.

I grew up in Chicago on the south side in Englewood. I watched my single mother raise 5 girls and 2 boys living in constant fear.  Fear for her daughters being victims of rape and molestation, and fear for my brothers being routinely "stopped and frisked" as we called it. I remember when a murder of cops took place in Englewood and they dragged 100's of black men to jail at the 62nd and Racine Police Station(It's still there)and my brother was one of them. I vividly remember my Mom's desperation when she found out my brother was being held, and I held my breath until he walked through the door okay. I heard the story how the station was filled with mothers of son's and none of them fit the description of the Assailants.  One woman's son was half white with wavy long hair and they beat him mercilessly, just because to them he probably wasn't black enough. I bet he has a story to tell. Needless to say my Mother was lucky to be the kind of ...

Real Housewives of New York 2015 Debut Show Didn't disappoint! My appetites whetted!

Bethannys Baaaaccckk: Bethanny I'm so sorry to see what you're going through but be encouraged. I wanna give you a viewers perspective of your marriage. You were and always are brutally honest, I am also accused of that, but as my late mom said "It's hard to remember a lie, the truth is easy to remember. Reversed marriage roles: While your spouse was a manly man, he unfortunately wasn't a good listener, and endeavored (with help from his family) to fix you, and change you into the kind of woman he wanted you to be. He didn't accept you as the fractured person you were and you couldn't have been more clear about your issues. Ex: How many times did you tell him you didn't want a surprise party, or a big deal made of your birthday. I wanted to slap him through the TV, your reaction was kind I would've turned around an d left. He then at every turn tried to make you feel guilty for not feeling and reacting to his family like ...

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Reunion show was great but Kim really scares me!

Kim Richards is in denial: I'm sitting home on my couch watching the show each week and I was concerned for Kim so I can understand the ladies concern and or meddling in concern for her well-being. I also have a lot of empathy and sympathy for kim and alot of what's going on in her life. Monty and the Dog: I cared for my Mom god rest her soul until she passed away due to cancer and it is a difficult thing to watch a person you love suffer and die little every day while you are powerless to do anything but give them love and support, to them its enough to you it's not. There is alot of anger and frustration and I think unfortunately this season the other girls got the brunt of it. So cut her some slack. I've had 12 dogs at one time and the EXACT same dog as Kim, I loved my dog to death but their bodies are PURE muscle they are huge and powerful. Kim had no respect and fear for that dogs power , you can treat a poodle like ur baby but not a pit bull, they don...

Chris Rock Posts 3 Selfies taken each time he's been stopped by police in 7 weeks

I think it's possible to shine the light on something to help people be more aware and to start a positive dialog and change. This man has been stopped more than likely because he;s driving an expensive car and he's black. In this day and age they should be used to it when everyone and anyone can be rich nowadays. I think there's more teenage millionaires than adults thanks to Apps and the internet! So let's stop pre-judging and profiling people because nothing is it appears to be anymore. Have a great day people. See Full story: chris-rock-cops-pulled-over_n_6984720.html

Entitled kids of today are allergic to hard work and the struggle for some reason! Technology and Social Media is ruining our youth and their futures!

What is the world coming to? I had a job my freshman year of high school!  I knew the value, and how hard it was to earn a dollar. Children are given ways too much today! I read a story today about a young girl that wanted to kill her Aunt that with love took her in, fed and loved her, but refused to let her use her home as a hotel by bringing home random men to sleep with, and degrade herself as a prostitute.  Ungrateful ass kids that feel somebody owes them something, why not get a job and get your own place then you can fuck who you want. Noooo that makes less sense than murdering the person that gave you a home and love. No good deed goes unpunished, you can't win with this entitled kids today that don't want to earn a dam thing anymore. Smh Read the full story here: C3vDfOl

"Real Housewives of Atlanta" Congratulations NeNe and Kim On your "Road to Riches Spinoff" Now let's see if #RHOA will sink or swim WO NeNe's Bloop's!

It's just like NeNe to share the spotlight and help a Sistah out when she can. She's real enuf to let others write her blog from a viewer's perspective, how unselfish is that?  I loves me some NeNe!! You bet not say nothing bad bout my girl NeNe!!  (Well heck you don't have to, all you gotta do is watch the last episode, everybody that wanted camera time uttered he name!) "But I ain't one to gossip, so you ain't heard it from me!" This season for me has been like watching the lobsters in the tank at a seafood restaurant.   Cynthia, Claudia, Kandi, and Kenya have clawed and cut other cast members in a desperate attempt to be relevant and get to the top of the Housewives tank.  We've seen them do everything but sell their souls to the Devil himself to get camera time, and it's a sorry sight to behold women that claim to have strong morals, and possess class. Throw each other under the proverbial bus. But listen here while I tell the tale...

10 Ways to help make Parents life easier when you have a child with Autism Non -Verbal or Special Needs.

A few things to live by>>>> As a parent of a child with Autism there are many things I've learned, that help me cope with everyday life so I'm going to list them in hopes it can help someone else. 1. Always be proactive when planning lunches, day trips, time at home. Keep a togo bag with favorite toys, books, tablets, chargers, snacks, and a frozen bottle of water, and unfrozen bottle of water. (trust me)  2. Keep snack packs like cut up apples, bananas, grapes, pepperoni in little containers readily available in the fridge. 3. Sing routines to help make them fun. I did a conga line for potty training " Let's go use the pottay!!" "Let's go use the pottay!!" 4. Allow your child to help when you're grocery shopping, if they're picking out their own fruit, and snacks, or retrieving items out of the deep freeze they are positively distracted and less like to have a meltdown. 5. Don't wait until your chil...
